Auto Scroll is coming to Instagram

Instagram is testing auto-scroll for Reels videos

Instagram is testing a new feature that enables users to watch Reels videos back-to-back automatically, without needing to swipe manually.

Currently, the feature is only available to a limited number of users in regions like India. Once activated, the next Reels video plays automatically after one ends, with no manual swipe required. At present, videos simply replay unless swiped.

To enable the feature, users can tap the three-dot icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen and select "Auto Scroll". For now, it's only available to iOS users, but it's expected to roll out to Android soon. Additionally, this functionality is not limited to Reels – Instagram is also testing it in the main feed.

Instagram aims to increase user engagement and time spent on the app with this feature. While auto-playing videos may help boost views for both Instagram and content creators, it could also lead to uncontrolled content consumption. Importantly, the feature can be turned on or off at the user's discretion.
